    Assessment

    AI features

    • Real-time transcription Live notes during the meeting, with the vendor's stated aim of capturing every spoken word accurately.
    • Speaker identification Speaker diarization attributes every voice in the transcript, both live during recording and on imported audio. According to the vendor, this feature is reserved for the Pro version.
    • AI summaries Automatically generated, structured meeting summaries condense long transcripts.
    • Audio import with transcription Imported recordings in formats such as MP4, M4A, WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG, AAC, MKV, WebM or WMA are transcribed as well.
    • Selectable model source For summarization you can switch between a locally running model and your own API key for a cloud provider.
    • Multilingual recognition According to the vendor, transcription recognizes terminology in more than 99 languages, including 27 EU languages.

    Suitable for

    • Teams and individuals with high privacy requirements who do not want to send meeting transcripts to the cloud
    • Users who want to run transcription and summarization locally on macOS or Windows
    • An alternative to cloud based meeting assistants when confidentiality matters more than convenience
    • Less suitable for Less suitable for teams that prefer an immediately usable, fully managed cloud solution without their own compute load

    Limitations and notes

    • Speaker identification only in Pro According to the vendor, the free community edition only covers basic transcription, while speaker diarization and further features are reserved for the paid Pro version.
    • Compliance is the operator's responsibility According to the vendor, HIPAA does not certify products, and compliance with requirements is the responsibility of the organization deploying Meetily.
    • Pricing model The Pro version costs around 10 US dollars per user per month billed yearly, with a separate enterprise tier at an individual price for self-hosting and volume licensing.
    • Own compute requirements Since transcription and processing run locally, your own device needs sufficient compute power, and the cloud option for summarization adds the API cost of the chosen provider.
    • Comparatively young project As an open source project by Zackriya Solutions, maturity and platform coverage do not consistently reach the level of established commercial providers such as Fireflies or Otter.

    Quick start

    1. Install the community edition from github.com/Zackriya-Solutions/meetily locally, based on the MIT license and free of charge.
    2. Start a meeting in Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams or another video conferencing platform as usual; Meetily records and transcribes locally in parallel.
    3. Alternatively, import an existing audio file; supported formats include MP4, M4A, WAV, MP3, FLAC, OGG and WebM.
    4. For summarization, choose between a local model and your own API key for a cloud provider.
    5. Find recorded meetings, including transcript and summary, under "Previous Meetings".

    Tips

    • Meetily is particularly suited to confidential meetings in legal, healthcare or financial services, because according to the vendor no additional bot joins the call and no audio data is uploaded to a third-party cloud.
    • If you need speaker identification, check in advance whether the paid Pro version is required; according to the vendor, the community edition does not cover it.
    • For self-hosting, a Business Associate Agreement or volume licensing, Meetily offers a separate enterprise tier aimed at larger organizations with their own IT operations.
    • Existing meeting recordings can be imported and transcribed or summarized afterward, independent of live participation.
    • Before production use, check github.com/Zackriya-Solutions/meetily, where the open source code is available for your own review.
