Description
Salesforce is a cloud-based CRM platform made up of several connected building blocks: Sales Cloud for sales processes, Commerce Cloud for commerce experiences across all channels, a customer service component that, according to the vendor, is meant to lower service costs through a combination of people and AI agents, and a data layer that turns fragmented data from any source into trusted context for people and agents. Slack serves as the central place where employees, data, apps, and Salesforce solutions come together, while Agentforce 360 sits on top as an open agent platform that puts AI agents to work where teams already operate, for example to close deals or resolve customer cases. According to the vendor, Agentforce has already handled more than four million conversations.
Getting started requires a certain willingness to configure the platform: Sales Cloud is offered in several suites and editions, AI extensions can only be added from the Enterprise edition upward according to the vendor, and Agentforce itself is billed on a consumption basis through a Flex Credits model, alongside a prepaid commitment option named by the vendor. The pricing page explicitly does not state detailed prices; these are worked out in conversation with a Salesforce sales representative. Not every use case is designed for full autonomy either: the listed Agentforce use cases include escalation to human employees as their own explicit category.
Compared with leaner CRM tools, Salesforce positions itself as a platform for organizations with broader functional needs and an industry focus: the vendor lists more than 16 industry-specific Agentforce solutions spanning a range from the automotive industry to travel and hospitality. For teams mainly looking for a fast, transparent self-service signup with publicly listed prices, the route through sales conversations is more of a detour, though the free 30-day trial and the Trailhead learning platform lower the barrier to a first look.
