Description
Synthesia generates videos with digital speaker avatars from text or a script. The platform offers more than 230 ready-made avatars in over 140 languages, including automatic lip sync. With the current Express 1 generation, the avatars' facial expressions, gestures and speech melody appear noticeably more natural than in earlier versions, even in longer videos. There is also Custom Avatars as an enterprise feature, which lets a real person be captured as a digital avatar, and Video Dubbing, which automatically translates existing videos into new languages while keeping the original voice.
Further features include Interactive Video for branched, clickable video flows with quizzes and calls to action, a Video Wizard that automatically drafts videos from PDFs, URLs or bullet points, and Screen Recording, which can be combined with avatar footage. The tool is therefore primarily built for L&D teams, HR, compliance, customer education, internal communication and sales enablement, that is, for organizations that regularly produce structured, informative videos with a localization need.
An honest limit: Synthesia is a tool for video production, not an assistant or agent tool in the narrower sense used in this library. The avatar aesthetic still reads as corporate in some contexts and is less suited to highly personal content. Script quality largely determines the result; good avatars do not rescue a weak script. For emotional storytelling, documentary content or creative video production, the source names alternatives such as Runway, Freepik or classic production as better suited. Using one's own likeness or another person's as a Custom Avatar also requires the explicit consent of the person depicted.
