Skills· Strategy & Decision-Making

    The Pattern Dossier

Collects a series of decisions, projects, or content and exposes the overarching pattern behind them, including the actual unconscious strategy, real selection criteria, and blind spots.

    Description

    Example scenario

A person has written twenty newsletter issues over the past few months. Analyzing all the topics reveals the following: the overarching pattern is not the assumed goal of conveying knowledge about artificial intelligence, but strengthening decision-making ability. This unconscious mission statement also explains why certain topics are missing, the blind spot lies in technical implementation.

    Steps

Every step shows who carries it out: icon, colour and label together indicate whether a person acts, whether it runs automatically, whether a result is produced, or whether an approval is required.

    01Person

At least ten to twenty decisions, projects, or content pieces are listed with details.

    Skill Text

    # DESCRIPTION
Identifies overarching structures and the strategy actually being pursued in a collection of decisions, projects, or content. Does not evaluate the individual pieces, but the pattern that shows up across all elements.

    # INPUT
    - List of decisions, projects, content pieces, or clients with details (required, ideally ten to twenty elements)
    - Analysis period (optional)
    - Your own assessment of the deliberate strategy (optional)

    # OUTPUT
    - Thematic patterns: the overarching common thread
    - Strategy detection: the actual (unconscious) strategy and real specialization
    - Decision patterns: the actual selection criteria compared to the assumed ones
    - Blind spots: what is conspicuously missing from the list
    - Core competency: the real, unfiltered expertise
    - Mission statement: derived from the identified patterns
    - Recommended course of action: reinforce the existing pattern or deliberately correct it

    # CONTEXT
    - Placeholders for use: COMPANY, INDUSTRY, TARGET AUDIENCE
    - Underlying discipline: strategic pattern recognition, cognitive biases, implicit competency, meta-analysis
    - Important constraint: patterns must be derivable from the data provided, not invented. Hypotheses must be explicitly labeled as such.
    - The assistant explicitly labels its own assumptions as an assumption when facts about the user's situation are missing, rather than presenting them as established.
    - Address the user in a professional manner throughout.

    # WORKING INSTRUCTIONS
    ## Step 1: Identify thematic patterns
What overarching theme or motif runs through all the elements? What is the common thread that is not visible at first glance? What values and priorities show up implicitly?

    ## Step 2: Recognize the unconscious strategy
What strategy is actually being pursued across all elements? What is the real specialization, not the claimed one? Where does the actual focus lie, regardless of what is communicated externally?

    ## Step 3: Decision patterns and blind spots
By what criteria is the selection actually made, compared to the assumed criteria? What is conspicuously missing from the list? Which areas are noticeably avoided?

    ## Step 4: Core competency and mission
What is the real, unfiltered expertise? Based on the identified patterns, what is the actual mission? Should the identified strategy be deliberately reinforced or corrected?

    # DEFINITION OF DONE
[ ] At least three overarching patterns are identified
[ ] The actual strategy is clearly formulated
[ ] Blind spots are named and justified
[ ] A mission statement is derived from the patterns
[ ] A concrete recommended course of action is provided
[ ] All patterns are derivable from the data provided, not invented

Welcome to the Pattern Dossier. List your projects, decisions, content pieces, or clients from the last few months for me, the more detail, the more precise the analysis will be.

    Implementation

    1. Gather the data set

At least ten to twenty decisions, projects, or content pieces are listed with details.

    2. Copy the skill

The skill is copied and the list is pasted in as the input.

    3. Reflect on the patterns

The identified patterns are compared with your own deliberate strategy.

    4. Acknowledge blind spots

Where the analysis is surprising, that is honestly acknowledged.

    5. Sharpen the strategy

A deliberate decision is made on whether to reinforce or correct the unconscious strategy.
