Description

Cloudflare bundles the classic website fundamentals, DNS, CDN, DDoS protection, SSL and WAF, with a developer platform built from edge workers, an S3 compatible object store called R2 with no egress fees, and a zero trust offering for secure remote access through tunnels, Access and Gateway. The core products are tiered per domain into Free, Pro, Business and individually negotiated Enterprise plans, with bandwidth staying unlimited across all tiers.

Developer products such as Workers and R2 follow their own usage based pricing on top of the domain plan, and so does Zero Trust, which is billed by user count. Several add on features, for example advanced certificate management or a log explorer, are not included in the base price according to the source and push the actual cost noticeably above the advertised entry price.

Voyage Digital runs Cloudflare operationally as part of its own infrastructure, among other things for DNS management, tunnel access and edge functions on individual projects.

Fine-grained billing for developer products Workers, R2, D1 and other building blocks bill separately from the domain plan by metrics such as requests, compute time or rows written, so ongoing costs depend heavily on the actual usage profile.
AI features as a separate layer Workers AI, Agents SDK, Vectorize and AutoRAG are separate products within the platform; setting up an AI workflow requires familiarity with the Workers environment.

Add the domain and point its nameservers to Cloudflare so DNS, CDN and WAF become active.
Pick the matching domain tier in the dashboard; the free tier is enough to get started.
For edge functions, create a Workers project and deploy it through Git, GitHub Actions, the CLI or any framework.
For zero trust access, set up a tunnel and define Access rules for the first users; according to the provider, the first 50 users are free.

Tips

Turn on Smart Placement for Workers so functions run closer to your own data source and response times drop.
